Las Piñas City Mayor April Aguilar has confirmed that the local government is closely monitoring the impact of Typhoon Opong despite the storm veering away from Metro Manila. Mayor Aguilar emphasized the ongoing preparedness measures to safeguard residents and facilitate rapid response if necessary.
She directed all city departments and agencies to remain on high alert. "Las Piñas will continue to uphold full readiness against potential heavy rainfall, flooding, or any other emergencies related to the typhoon," Aguilar stated.
The city government reiterated its commitment to staying well-informed, maintaining strong coordination with agencies such as PAGASA, the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), and other emergency response teams to protect the community.
On Friday afternoon, key local officials including Congressman Mark Anthony Santos, Councilor Macky Saito, and BF Resort Village President Euan Toralballa joined municipal authorities in closely overseeing the situation.
This coordinated effort underscores Las Piñas City’s proactive approach to ensuring public safety amid weather disturbances, even as the typhoon’s trajectory has shifted away from the capital region.
