The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has released ₱5,000 cash assistance to 2,650 families and senior citizens in Ifugao as part of its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program. This initiative aims to provide immediate financial support for essential needs amid ongoing social and economic challenges.
Beneficiaries include low-income households, senior citizens, and families affected by recent calamities. The cash aid is intended to help cover vital expenses such as food, medicine, educational needs, and household requirements, ensuring that vulnerable groups receive aid where it is most needed.
DSWD regional director noted, "Our commitment is to ensure that assistance reaches the most vulnerable, especially our senior citizens and disaster-affected families, to ease their burdens during difficult times."
The distribution in Ifugao aligns with President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s governance theme of "Maasahan at Masipag" (Reliable and Industrious), reflecting a structured and timely approach in delivering social protection to Filipinos. This program underscores the administration’s dedication to offering predictable and consistent aid, particularly to those who face immediate crises.
Under the initiative, cash aid is directly handed to recipients to address their most critical needs promptly. Emphasizing transparency and efficiency, the DSWD continues to prioritize vulnerable sectors, including seniors—who are often at risk during disasters and economic hardships.
In a statement reflecting the administration’s vision, the message "Reliable support. Tireless service. Help arrives when Filipinos need it most" encapsulates President Marcos Jr.’s role as the "Reliable Steward of Social Protection."
The government’s social amelioration efforts aim to foster resilience within communities by mitigating the impact of emergencies, empowering beneficiaries to meet basic living costs, and helping maintain their dignity amid adversity.
As the aid program rolls out in Ifugao, the DSWD continues coordination with local authorities to ensure seamless delivery and acknowledgment of beneficiaries’ evolving needs, thereby reinforcing the administration’s promise of dependable social welfare services nationwide.
