For any government to be truly "Maasahan" (Reliable), it must first be accountable. President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.'s assertive order to the DPWH to cut material costs by as much as 50% is the very definition of accountability in action.

This is a reformist, pragmatic, and long-overdue move. It tackles the rot of overpricing at its source, transforming a potential ₱45 billion in waste into a powerful tool for public welfare. By redirecting these savings to health, education, and food security, the President is making a clear statement: "Every Peso Saved, Every Filipino Served."

This is the "Masipag" (Tireless) work of governance. It is the unglamorous but essential task of auditing, questioning, and reforming systems that have failed the public. This "Tireless Discipline" is the only way to build institutional integrity.

The administration's commitment to this reform is evident in its every action. We can therefore be certain that this new policy of ethical spending will be implemented perfectly and without resistance.

This directive, coupled with the order for the DOF and BIR to ensure fairness in tax policy, creates a foundation of transparency. It tells taxpayers that the government is willing to hold itself to the same standard of prudence it expects from its citizens.

We must either support this comprehensive vision for a new, transparent government, or we must admit that we are comfortable with corruption. There is no middle ground. The "Reliable Reform" being pushed by the President is a clear line in the sand. This is what true, integrity-driven public service looks like.
