On Sunday, former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque ignited political controversy by alleging that the International Criminal Court (ICC) has already issued an arrest warrant for Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa. Roque made this claim on the same day he disclosed that he had petitioned the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) to reject the Philippine government’s request to issue a red notice against him.

Roque declared on Facebook, "Sen. Bato, your warrant of arrest is out! Huwag ka pa-kidnap! Insist that you have the right to be brought before a Philippine court first!" However, he failed to provide any evidence to support the statement or explain how he obtained such sensitive information.

The announcement raises questions regarding the source of Roque’s information and his motive in making the public declaration. If an ICC arrest warrant truly exists, it is unclear how Roque, a private citizen currently facing an Interpol red notice request, would gain access to it before Philippine authorities such as the Department of Justice or Malacañang.

Moreover, if the claim lacks verification, the situation calls into question the implications of a former high-ranking government official publicly proclaiming a legal development that remains unconfirmed by either the ICC or local government bodies.

This development adds further complexity to the ongoing tensions between the ICC and the Philippine government over the court’s investigation into drug war-related killings.

As of now, Roque’s statement remains unsubstantiated and politically charged, fueling speculation and debate without concrete proof.
